Take a look at this new and exciting eLearning and training programme for Congenital Heart Disease. This was created in collaboration with E-learning for Health and Health Education England, and is available to all who wish to upskill their knowledge in the area of Congenital Heart Disease.
The programme provides a basic but essential overview of this condition and highlights the advances in paediatric care that have resulted in increasing numbers of patients surviving into adult life.
The programme is aimed at clinical healthcare professionals who are not specialists in CHD but may need to care for patients with CHD in their current role.
The programme consists of 3 modules, each taking about 20 to 25 minutes to complete. These are entitled:
·An introduction to Congenital Heart Disease
·An introduction to the neonate or Infant with Congenital Heart Disease
·Acute presentations in Adult Congenital Heart Disease
We believe this resource could particularly benefit NICU and ED nurses and doctors, ward nurses, allied health professionals, midwives, GP’s, physiologists and anyone else who cares for, or comes into contact, with CHD patients.
This CHD training programme has been developed by an extensive group of healthcare professionals from within the field of CHD from all over the UK. Our previous network Lead Nurse, Jess Hughes, was lead author for the neonatal module, alongside Alison Wood, Paediatric Cardiac Educator from Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, and Susie Gage, Paediatric Cardiology Lead Pharmacist.
The modules have been endorsed by the British Congenital Cardiac Association (BCCA), the Congenital Cardiac Nurses Association (CCNA), as well as the Children’s Heart Federation (CHF) and the Somerville Heart Foundation.
The CHD training modules can be accessed on the NHS Learning Hub
