Interests / expertise / research in CHD
Dr Shafi Mussa's particular interests within Congenital Heart Disease are neonatal surgery and aortic root surgery in adult congenital patients. He also has an active interest in teaching and training, and give lectures in surgery for congenital heart disease in regional, national and international meetings.
Current role and experience
Dr Mussa was appointed as a Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeon in Bristol in 2019, following training in the generality of cardiothoracic surgery at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge and the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, and dedicated training in congenital cardiac surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and Hopital Necker Enfants Malades, Paris.
Interests outside of work
Outside of work Dr Mussa enjoys family life with his wife and three sons.
