Dr Bedair is a specialist in adult congenital cardiology which means that she has expertise in the clinical care of patients with heart disease dating since birth. She trained in adult congenital and paediatric cardiology at Great Ormond Street, Royal Brompton, St Thomas’ and Evelina London Hospitals. Dr Bedair has a particular interest and expertise in performing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheter procedures in adults with congenital heart disease. These procedures help the medical team understand circulations better or allow keyhole treatment of heart defects.
Current role and experience
Dr Bedair is a proud member of the Bristol Adult Congenital Heart Disease team, based at the Bristol Heart Institute, and has been in her current role since August 2014. She has two weekly clinics in Bristol and also sees patients in Royal Devon and Exeter and North Devon District Hospitals with the local cardiology team. Dr Bedair holds accreditation with the European Society of Cardiology in congenital echocardiography. She is the clinical governance lead at the Bristol Heart Institute, a role that helps her promote a culture of safe, high quality care and to encourage learning from mistakes when they happen. Dr Bedair is also responsible for the training of the future doctors in adult congenital heart disease.
Interests outside of work
In her spare time, Dr Bedair enjoys squash, running and doing jigsaw puzzles.
